Spraying through the Mid West year
The Mid West is the northern end of WA’s cropping country, from Geraldton and Northampton inland to Mullewa and Morawa and south to Three Springs and Coorow. Wheat, lupins, canola and barley dominate, and the season usually starts and finishes earlier than further south.
- December to March: summer weed control, particularly after summer rain or cyclone-driven storms bring weeds up in stubble.
- April to June: knockdown and early post-emergent herbicide as seeding starts, often earlier than in the south.
- June to August: in-crop herbicide, fungicide and insecticide, and wet paddocks after big winter falls.
- August to October: late insect sprays and crop-topping ahead of an earlier harvest.
