Why choose drone vineyard and orchard spraying

No wheel ruts

Spray after rain without a tractor churning up wet rows or compacting the soil.

Steep and awkward blocks

Terrain following holds a set height over slopes where a tractor is slow or unsafe.

Hit the timing

Get a fungicide on when disease risk is high, rather than waiting for the ground to dry.

Into the canopy

Rotor downwash pushes spray down into the foliage rather than leaving it on top.

What we spray

  • Vineyard fungicides for powdery mildew, downy mildew and botrytis, where the label allows aerial application.
  • Fungicides and insecticides in apple, pear, stone fruit and citrus orchards.
  • Foliar nutrients and trace elements.
  • Weed control on headlands, dams and steep banks.

Before we quote

  1. We check that the product’s label or APVMA permit allows aerial application.
  2. We agree the water rate with you or your agronomist.
  3. We plan the flight around the block, including rows, trellis, netting, powerlines and nearby houses.
  4. We spray and send you the application record.

Labels and water rates

Many horticultural products are registered for ground application only. Drone spraying counts as aerial application, so we can only apply a product if its label or an APVMA permit allows aerial use. We check this before every job.

Vineyards and orchards usually need higher water rates than broadacre crops. That means more refills and slower progress, so each block is quoted individually rather than at a per-hectare rate. Netted blocks can’t be sprayed from above.

FAQ

Common questions

It is quoted per job, based on block size, terrain, water rate and travel.

No. Netting stops the spray reaching the canopy, so netted blocks need to be sprayed from the ground.

Coverage depends on canopy density, water rate and droplet size. We set these with you and your agronomist for each block.

The Perth Hills, the Swan Valley and the Great Southern, with other areas by arrangement.

No. You supply the product and access to clean water. We bring the drone, the tender and the mixing setup.
